ahhh the bolt is a mysterious looker! To your suprise you will probably find that it misses your crank arm just by a gnats whisker!
And yes the shock mountings isn't very noticvable at first, but the first place I tried it was at a world cup track so I noticed it helped quite a lot!
Something strange happens on my bike though - I probably broke the frame or something lol - but anyway, the brake arm hits my frame!?

sorry for the lateness been on holiday to Fort Bill!
Putting the shock in the rear mountings.....OH MY GODD! DO IT NOW!!!
I altered the position about 3 weeks ago and I still can't even believe the difference it made to the feel of the bike! (although it was probably mostly in my head) But I think the bike feels more stable, lower and better at cornering.
It takes the standard BB height down to a quite low and respectable 13.3 inches which improved handling a lot methinks.
And the brake arm, that also makes a lot of difference too I think!
You know when you want to slide into a corner, or pump it really hard? Well basically if you put the arm in the lower mount it has this effect every time you pull the brake. Grip is improved VASTLY!! and I mean vastly, like up at fort bill this week I was doing some times that beat the sponsored riders on Ironsorse Bikes were doing, and I think it was down to the fact that every time you pull the rear brake, the floating brake arm (in the lower mounts) forces the rear wheel into the ground, so it basically never comes unstuck or skids.

i just hacked my brake mounts and cable guides off, looks awesome now. Looks like I won't be riding brake again! haha ah well, brakeless is pretty good fun right now.

Top tips for grizedale - 1) The 'North Face' trail is absolute crap haha It's supposedly this insane and steep xc trail that is apparently amazing but be warned! Its not!!
2) Grizedale has some amazing shit to ride just scattered about allover the place. You can't miss the 'rocky riverbeds' as we call them. Which are basically insane rocky public roads from like the 1600's that are just the best , most gnarly and fast rock gardens ever!

Also, if you look at my pics theres a place called 'Satterthwaite' We spent about a year building there and the track is seriously the best shit for about 50 miles haha If you can't find it just ask anyone cause its pretty much known as the most gnarl and dh style track.

Took us a year to make and its got like jumps, insane rock gardens, drops, tight rooty tree sections, cliff drops and everything.
We got kicked off it though a few months back for it being way too dangerous for forestry to allow. However we ride it once every few months and they don't mind aslong as like 500 people dont turn up haha
